Live Out Your Swashbuckler Dreams at Tybee Island Pirate Fest

Two people dressed up for Tybee Island Pirate Fest. There’s a chance that at some point during your life, your childish imagination had you playing pirates. A cardboard box served as your prized vessel, and the green backyard grass was the ocean filled with everything from water monsters to other pirates working to stop you from reaching the buried treasure. Now, the days of playing pirates might be long gone, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy reliving the memories at Tybee Island Pirate Fest. To help you have the best time at the annual Georgia festival, the team at Sid Was Here Short Term Rentals has put together a guide to all the important information you need to know.

What to Know about the Tybee Island Event

Years ago, Tybee Island served as a safe haven for pirates looking to hide their treasure. Today, those moments are all just part of the island’s history, but every year Tybee Island is overrun by scallywags during Pirate Fest.

The annual festival started in 2005 as a way to attract visitors during the off-season. That first event was a success, and now the three-day-long event in October is one of the most anticipated things on Tybee’s calendar of events. Put on your best family-friendly pirate attire and set off to enjoy an unforgettable time with loved ones.

The schedule has something for all ages and kicks off with the Buccaneer Ball. Other popular activities include a parade, best-dressed contest, vendor booths, live music, and more. For the most up-to-date information on festival happenings, check out the online schedule

Keep in mind, dogs are allowed within the festival grounds as long as they remain on a leash, but they are not allowed on the beach. You are also not allowed to bring in outside chairs or coolers.
