Relax on Sandy Shorelines | An Insider’s Guide to Tybee Island Beaches

The view of one of the beaches on Tybee Island. These days, time is moving faster, and life is getting busier. This is why getting away from the hustle and bustle of your everyday life every once in a while is so important. Since the late 1800s, Tybee Island has been a go-to place for anyone looking to treat themselves to some R&R. Even if you’re staying at a Sid Was Here Short Term Rental while working remotely, take advantage of this Georgia island’s laidback atmosphere by finding ways to step away from the desk and unwind. One of the best ways to relax for an afternoon is on the shores of Tybee Island beaches.

What to Know about 3 Georgia Beaches

Given its coastal location, it should come as no surprise that Tybee Island is home to miles of shoreline and public beaches. No matter which of these spots you head to, you’ll have everything you need for a memorable beach day.

  1. North Beach stretches from the island’s portion of Highway 80 to 2nd Avenue. This stretch of coastline is home to the historic Tybee Island Lighthouse and several other historic attractions. If you find yourself getting hungry during your beach day, head to one of the nearby restaurants like Sundae Cafe or North Beach Bar & Grill.
  2. Make your way south of 14th Street, and you’ll run into South Beach, arguably one of the best beaches for families on Tybee Island. Go for a stroll along Tybee Pier & Pavilion, or paddle out past 19th Street to try surfing the waves rolling in. Because this is one of the most popular beaches on the island, we recommend getting there early.
  3. Get away from the crowds by planning your beach day at Mid Beach, frequented by locals and families staying at nearby vacation homes. One thing to keep in mind is there are no public restrooms or designated parking near this spot. Spanning from 1st Street to 14th, the waters off the shoreline here are great for stand-up paddleboarding.
