Making Do Without: Utilizing Alternatives when Your Short-Term Rental Has No Laundry Facility

washer
If you’re staying in a short term rental, it’s usually expected that you provide your own laundry solutions. Here are some tips for staying clean and laundryless in a short term rental:
pack light

1. Pack light.

Try to plan ahead for your short-term rental and pack light. This means less laundry to worry about since you won’t have a lot of items to clean. To really minimize, consider using multipurpose items such as a sarong or a pashmina that can easily be used as a blanket, a shawl, a beach cover-up and more.

laundromat

2. Make use of a nearby laundromat.

If you happen to find one, a laundromat is a great alternative to relying on laundry services in a short term rental. Make sure to do your research beforehand, as most laundromats charge by the bag instead of by the load and the cost adds up quickly.

hand wash

3. Hand wash and air dry.

If you don’t have access to a laundromat, you can still get your clothes clean with some hand washing and air drying. Set aside your delicates, then hand wash your clothes in the sink or a bathtub, using a gentle detergent. Lay them flat on a clean, dry towel and press out any excess moisture. Then, hang them up to air dry.

laundry service

4. Drop off your laundry.

Look into a laundry service. These are easier to find than you think. A simple Google search with the name of your town will do.
