Dog Breeds Not Allowed

Dogs that are not permitted in our homes
Due to insurance requirements, the following types of purebred dogs or a mixed breed, including one of these types, are forbidden in any of our homes. No exceptions.

American Staffordshire Terriers, American Pit Bull Terriers, or Staffordshire Bull Terriers, all commonly known as Pit Bulls

  • Presa Canarios
  • Wolf Hybrids

Trained attack or guard dogs that have been trained to attack persons, property, or other animals; or dogs that have been trained to guard persons or property;

Any fighting dog or dog bred for fighting; any dog, used in any manner, as a fighting dog or explicitly bred for fighting;

Any dog with a prior history of attacking or biting, causing “bodily injury” to person(s) or another animal, as established through insurance claims records, or through the records of local public safety, law enforcement, or other similar regulatory agency.

Exceptions to breed type can be considered if

  • 1 The applicant provides a “Canine Good Citizen” certificate issued by the American Kennel Club for the dog. The following link will provide information concerning the training and certification. http://www.akc.org/dog-owners/training/canine-good-citizen/
  • 2 The animal is trained as a Service Dog (e.g., seeing guide dogs, pet therapy). A certificate is required.
  • 3 K9 and Police dogs are owned by or in the care, custody, or control of an insured trained in handling police dogs and K9s. Paperwork is required.
