Guests do not book a renovation. They book a photograph. A lamp that lifts a dark corner, a mirror that widens a small room, and matching hangers in a closet all change the picture a guest sees before they change anything about the property itself.
An STR refresh is also reversible and testable. Spend fifty dollars a room, reshoot, and watch what the listing does over the next thirty days. If nothing moves, you have lost fifty dollars. A renovation does not give you that option.
